The most important thing about starting a new job, is to source a coffee place. That morning pick me up or afternoon slump needs delicious attention and I have to say that not only have I turned into a bit of a coffee snob (from my time in Japan) I cant ignore that the whole coffee experience is now important to me. That’s why I was immediately won over by coffee angel on Pembroke street.
Great coffee and great design is a beautiful combination and coffee angel excels. The identity is designed by Oran Day from Atelier David Smith, a Dublin based design studio. It is clean, refined and yet retains a vibrant and modern feel. The crème colour of the type contrasted with the bitter orange which is used sparingly throughout the stores identity creates enough spark to make it really memorable. This colour scheme is used in the stores printed materials and the staff uniforms, linking across materials.
Those extra finishing touches such as embossed take out cups, coffee angel branded bags of coffee beans and even 3d social media icons displayed on a wooden panel all come together to strengthen the identity and add that luxury feel.
A very successful visual identity to go with a delicious cup of coffee. What more can a designer ask for.
